Coppell turned Homecoming into a record-setting showcase Friday night, defeating JJ Pearce 55-10 at Buddy Echols Field to enter its bye week 2-0 in district play.

Quarterback Carter Zingelmann completed all 16 of his passes for 327 yards and five touchdowns, adding a rushing touchdown in a performance that appeared to be the first perfect passing night by a Coppell quarterback in program history.

The Cowboys scored on every meaningful offensive possession, piling up points by air, on the ground and through contributions from the defense and special teams.

Zingelmann opened the night by finding Jaden George for an 11-yard touchdown on Coppell’s first drive. George, returning after missing the previous two games, also helped spark the run game. Jacob Anene caught three passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns, while Jackson Echols had five receptions for 95 yards. John Meyer, Diego Rodriguez and George also caught touchdown passes.

Coppell’s offensive line—Tyler Anderson, Austin Heitz, Liam Montgomery, Brayden Marrs and Tejas Ravilla—gave Zingelmann time to operate and helped the Cowboys move efficiently throughout the night.

The defense was just as decisive. Anthony Lewis returned an interception for a touchdown, while Aaron Isbell repeatedly disrupted the Mustangs’ offense with multiple sacks. Coppell limited JJ Pearce to 124 total yards, including 28 rushing yards.

Special teams added to the separation, producing a safety on a botched punt. Daylon Montgomery later returned a kickoff deep into Mustang territory to set up Coppell’s final possession.

The Cowboys’ depth showed late as players including Sione Siale, Landon Ray and Sebastian Wilkinson-Dingfield made defensive stops with the outcome settled.

Coppell will take next week off before returning to district action Oct. 9 against Plano at Clark Stadium.
